    Hey,

This is Roberta, the News Editor. Your article is good, I edited it a little. But in order for it to be published, you need to find out how many students took the AP test. Your draft just had a _______.

Please get back to me ASAP (Thursday, Oct.24, Friday the latest) with the value so that we can get this article in the paper.

We’re working on a really tight schedule to get the print version out.

    Thanks!

    Amanda,
Hello, Lady. A review for Dan in Real Life sounds cool. Go ahead and write it for Monday; we need articles asap. Someone is writing a movie review for Saw 4 and their are a couple of CD reviews. For future reference, writing about the free iTunes single of the week sounds interesting, but what exactly is this (unfortunately, I am deprived of an iPod). Aside from these good ideas, I think it would also be good for the Arts&Entertainment section to focus more on events that go on outside of school like art fairs or about real artists that make their livings off of painting or teaching (@ the art center in south beach or anywhere.. we’re in Miami). Concerts and other shows or plays qualify, too. We’ll talk about it more later. I just want to give you things to start thinking about. Thank you!!!!

The iTunes article(s) sound decent. When exactly is art basel? I knew someone who was a guide last year; maybe I can get in contact with him to let some reporters in. Mr. Weiss mentioned making us press passes a while ago; maybe he can issue us a few for the fair. We’ll see. Awesome idea.

Hey. I see you’ve written a review for Gone Baby Gone. Are you writing this instead or in addition to Dan in Real Life? Let me know. I have been out of school, but I am still keeping up and am trying to keep deadlines. the paper is due soon. Thanks

Dear Arts & Entertainment Staff Writer,
Hello. I would like to set up a meeting during lunch on Friday. This purpose of us meeting is to meet each other, exchange phone numbers, AIM addresses, and discuss the paper a bit. We will meet between the 400 and 900 wings by the statue adjacent to the teacher’s lounge. See you there. : )
    Sincerely,
    Ash Mo

    Hello A&E Writers!
Remember to check my weblog for the edits of your articles. A revision, which is your next draft, will be due before Thanksgiving break begins. It would be nice to have the articles finished, and new articles being planned to be written before the break is over. Also remember to call me or e-mail me if you have any questions or need any help. I still insist! Thank you!

    Hey Amanda,

I edited and submitted your AP Scholars article to Alex, the Editor, so you would have to ask her what happened with it.

But I do know that a lot of articles couldn’t go in the paper because there wasn’t enough room (one of mine couldn’t make it in there either!)

  • jom2009 // December 5, 2007 at 8:06 pm |

Hey. I’m Jo and I’m going to be filling in for Ashley as the A&E editor. So please send your first drafts to me via a comment to my page or e-mail me at jouberte1991@hotmail.com

    Thanks

Hey. To be honest, I have no idea where your ap scholars article is. I checked your blog and it wasn’t there. Your editor hasn’t been in class in forever so it’s been difficult getting review people’s stuff into my hands because we’re missing a link (ashley). When did you write it? do you remember the date?

    Hey guys,

For those of you who don’t know me, I am Roberta, the News Editor. Please post a summary of whatever story you’re working on or want to work on to my “Leave Me A Note” page by Friday, January 25th. First drafts due the end of next week!!! If you need anything just let me know. Hopefully I can meet all of you guys soon so that we can at least know what we all look like in person.

Also, I need your numbers. If you don’t want to post it on here, you can e-mail it to me or give it to Mr. Weiss to give to me or text it to me or something.

Please check my blog often, as I do “News Section Note Updates” to keep everybody informed of what’s going on.

Alessia can tell you about those. :-)

    See you later, News Writers!

Where are your article ideas? Alessia had an idea about the boat show – I think you should pursue it. Talk to her and me for details.

  • hitides // February 11, 2008 at 5:41 pm |

Also consult with Stephanie. She and Alessia have a lot of the same ideas, so you will have to decide who takes which article

    Hi Amanda,

We’re coming up on deadline – if you want the writers strike revision in the paper, I need it ASAP!

  • robertar2008 // April 8, 2008 at 10:15 pm |

Hey, it’s Roberta, the News Editor.

Here’s your 1st assignment for the 4th nine weeks:

You are to write about how student’s grades really are being witheld due to the new attendance policy. You can review what the policy is, ask teachers and students what they think about it and ask students who actually have their grades currently frozen what they’re going to do (are they actually going to go downtown to appeal it?), especially the seniors who may not be able to graduate because of the new attendance policy.

    Thanks!

  • robertar2008 // April 8, 2008 at 10:20 pm |

You can also ask students and teachers if they think a student’s grade should be witheld because they missed too many days even if they have an “A” or “B” average in the class.

hey there first place regional winner!

i have a quick question babydoll,

where did you get this information?

“Last year, Beach High was 3rd in attendance out of the 35 high schools of Miami Dade County. Therefore, many wonder why they changed the policy that was going so well. ”

if you can give me the source, that would be perfect! thank you!!!!!

    Hey I’m Gwen!
sorry I didn’t post the editorial and column
Ideas when you told me to, I was just extremely busy and stressed out with school, and all of that stuff, but anyways, I just finished posting them, so
If you could look them over and tell which ones you think would be good to write about that would be great!

    - Thank you :)

    Alessia, Margaret, and Amanda,

I apologize for the inconvenience, but after receiving our section assignments during journalism today, Patrick and I would like to propose a switch:

Patrick is currently assigned to the features section, but he has a great preference for opinion, which is his strongest style.

I am currently assigned to opinion, but I exponentially prefer news writing and would be best able to contribute to the paper by writing for that section. In fact, ever since writing our news articles, I have eagerly awaited the opportunity to write more. I know that I managed to earn an ‘A’ on my opinion article earlier this year, but I really struggled with it.

Gwendolyn is currently assigned to news, and though she was not in class today, her friend Alice indicated that, as she has not yet begun work on news, she would probably not mind switching.

We hope that Patrick can first switch sections with Gwendolyn, and then switch with me. This would leave him assigned to the opinion section, me assigned to the news section, and Gwendolyn assigned to features.

We understand that it is important to have strong writers in all sections of the paper, and we hope that this switch satisfies all of the editors involved. If you have a better suggestion, we’d be happy to discuss it. And, of course, if it is not possible to make the changes, we will all do our best with our current assignments.

    Thanks a million!
    -Nadine
